Project leader: Prof. dr hab. Joanna Trylska
Project title:
Making use of siderophore transport systems to deliver peptide nucleic
acids to bacterial cells
Competition type; OPUS 19
Financing institution: National Science Centre
Project description:
The project objective is to use bacterial iron transport systems to
deliver peptide nucleic acid (PNA) oligomers to bacterial cells,
including the design of siderophore-PNA conjugates, their synthesis,
and characterization of transport through the bacterial outer
membrane. The lab web page is at http://bionano.cent.uw.edu.pl
Enquiries about the project: jtrylska@uw.edu.pl
Key responsibilities include:
– performing various experimental assays on bacterial cells and cellfree systems,
– testing antibacterial properties of peptides and PNA conjugates,
– designing and performing bacterial uptake assays of siderophore
analogs and their conjugates with PNA,

– preparing reports and presentations, presenting results at internal
and (inter)national meetings, training junior scientists.

Profile of candidates/requirements:
The competition is open to persons who meet the conditions specified
in:
– Act of 20 July 2018 Law on higher education and science (Journal of
Laws of 2023, item 742 with layer amendments) and the Statutes of
the University of Warsaw;
– Regulations on the allocation of resources for the implementation of
tasks financed by the National Science Centre for the OPUS 19 grant
